Wills, Estates &
Family Trusts

Wills, Estates, and Family Trusts

We provide a wide range of services in this area including wills, powers of attorney, enduring powers of attorney, advance directives, trusts, and estate planning.  We will also work closely with your accountant or other financial advisers.

A will, power of attorney, and a representation agreement are basic, but critical, tools to help you to structure your affairs so that your wishes are heard and followed, even when you cannot speak--including how you want to be cared for, how you want your affairs to be managed while you are alive, and how you want your estate distributed thereafter.

We provide sensitive, informational advice on your options and help you to clearly identify your wishes.  If needed, we can help to administer your wishes at the appropriate time.  We are able to make home and hospital visits if needed.

We encourage our clients to consider reviewing their will approximately every five years – or when there has been a significant change in their life – to ensure that such documents are an accurate reflection of their current wishes.  A change in marital status, the birth or death of a child, or the progression of age in your children represent changes that might require adjustments in your will.

Family Trusts

Family Trusts may be a useful tax planning tool for your family.  Determining whether the cost and administration required are advantageous to you is a decision you will make with your accountant or other financial advisers.  We work closely with your accountant to create the trust deed and, if necessary, any corporations or share transfers that will make a Family Trust an instrument that will perform for you.
